Balancing act: Yogi couple include baby in gravity defying poses
Acroyoga duo Honza and Claudine Lafond made their eight-month-old daughter, Sofie Phoenix, the star of the show by including her in their mind-bending routines.
Claudine, 35, from New York, learned yoga aged 15 in Bali and began a teaching training course after she finished college.
While her husband Honza, 36, originally from the Czech Republic has been a personal trainer for over 15 years.
After meeting and falling in love ten years ago, the couple built their own brand ACROVINYASA in 2012 and have over 393k followers on Instagram @yogabeyond.
Claudine said: “It has been next level fun to incorporate our baby into what we do.
“She has been flying since before she was born so when we put her up high, she becomes very calm and happy.
“It’s as if she remembers being inverted and elevated from the womb or perhaps even before that.”
The couple, who have been married for seven years, both
fell in love with acroyoga after mastering regular yoga.
Claudine said: “We do something each day to stay active, whether it’s asana, meditation, walking, running or acro.
“When we want to learn something new, we will dive in deep and aim to deconstruct the steps in order to find stability and strength.
“Sometimes this is a quick process and sometimes not.”
Claudine added: “We have both always been active and healthy people. As a result, we have inherited a free spirited attitude and firm determination which enabled us to connect and pursue our collective dreams and each other.”
The creative couple were connected through a mutual friend ten years ago and shortly after Honza flew out to New York to Meet Claudine in person.
They spent a month together and six weeks later, Claudine bought a one-way ticket back to Sydney where they have lived together since.
Claudine said: “After an incredible and surreal month, Honza invited me to move back to Sydney with him. At the time, it felt like the next logical step.
“This was almost ten years ago and it has been an amazing ride, ever since.
“Our relationship is full of joy, play and trust but just like any relationship, it takes work to keep tending sweet fruits.
“Relationships, like everything else is a balancing act and fortunately we’re pretty good at that.”
