Brains and beauty! Miss England stunner gets first class degree in radiotherapy and wants to cure cancer
This beauty queen is proof brains and beauty can go hand in hand after she bagged a first class science degree and setting her sights on finding a cure for cancer.
Reigning Miss England Stephanie Hill, was crowned Miss England in July and is currently in Sanya, China hoping to beat 120 other hopefuls to claim the Miss World title on Saturday (November, 18).
Despite her busy schedule, the 21-year-old from Hope Valley in Derbyshire, has found time to study for a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Radiotherapy and Oncology at Sheffield University – earning herself a first – and after seeing two school friends battle cancer, hopes to find a cure for the disease.
Kind-hearted Stephanie has also launched the Magical Memories Foundation, which sees her dressing up as Disney characters and visiting children in hospitals undergoing cancer treatments.
She said: “Ever since I was a young child I’ve been interested in cancer research and oncology.
“Two of my closest friends had radiotherapy when I was at school and I am very passionate about trying to find a cure for cancer.
“I started the foundation following my experiences in my clinical placement and seeing the difficulties children with cancer face when they are going through treatment. I wanted to help.
“Many of them actually believe I am the character and I love to see their faces light up.
“For the short time that I am with the children, they forget they are ill and it’s rewarding to see them smile at such a difficult time.”
Stephanie, has taken a year out of her studies during her reign as Miss England but plans to return to university to do a masters degree.
She added: “Having to juggle everything has made me more practical with my time. But ultimately I would like to be a research scientist based in a lab where I try and find a treatment for cancer.”
