Real-life penguin man: Ex-circus performer born with hands protruding from his shoulders due to rare disorder says it doesn’t stop him from ‘being awesome’
Meet the real-life ‘PENGUIN MAN’ due to the rare disease that caused his hands to protrude from his shoulders – but hasn’t stopped him from ‘living life to the fullest’.
Born with an incredibly extreme form of TAR Syndrome – a rare genetic disorder causing the absence of bones in the arm, Jason Brott, 32, from Baltimore, Maryland, is a real medical marvel.
With his hands attached to his shoulders, short-stature, with 80% of his body covered in tattoos and a split tongue, he goes by the nickname the ‘Illustrated Penguin’.
Despite missing the entirety of his arms, Jason insists he lives life indifferent from anyone else, as he’s able to feed himself, get dressed and even skateboard, with a little perseverance.
Subjected to harsh ridicule and bullying during his childhood, the former side-show performer urged others to ‘never judge a book by its cover’ when he spoke to ‘The Wizard of Odd TV’ about his ‘fulfilling life’.
Jason, an MC and stage performer, said: “Time has changed a lot for kids, but I got bullied and picked-on – you just can’t let anyone beat up on you.
“You’ve got to be strong and just know that when we get older, your life will get better.
“I eat pretty much the same way as you do – I live my life just as you do.
“I just have to do a few things a little differently to get along during the day.
“I get stared at and people look at me, but I don’t really notice it.
“If I were to stop for every person that stares at me, I wouldn’t get anywhere in life.
“I know I look a little weird and odd, but I’ve had a very fulfilling life.
“So next time you see someone that’s a little interesting, don’t judge a book by its cover.”
