That’s ab-soultely amazing! Father and son ditch flab to become super toned bodybuilders
And he was recently crowed first place at a national fitness championship alongside his son after years of hard work and dedication.
The pair, who have taken the bodybuilding world by storm, know that their father and son relationship makes them one of a kind.
Jesse from Toronto, Canada, first started training his unfit dad in 2008 and they haven’t looked back since, becoming bigger and better every year.
They now compete multiple times every year as bodybuilders and are often up against one another for the same titles.
Jesse, a personal trainer, said: “My dad had the typical ‘dad bod’ he was out of shape and barely did any exercise before I started training him.
“He wanted to lose some weight and feel confident so I helped him with his diet and training regime.
“It’s amazing that we are now both competing on the same stage.
“It shows that no matter your age, you can still get into the shape of your life to reach your goals.
“My dad won first place and overall competitor at his regional show and then second in his provincial show to quality for nationals only a few months ago.
“We came head to head in the open category at the national championships where I placed second and dad placed third.
“People are always so amazed when I tell them he’s my dad, I suppose it’s not something you see every day.
“And despite us both being in the same competitions, we are always so happy for each other when one wins a title.”
Jesse first started weightlifting when he was 21 years old and has since carved a career out of helping others hit their fitness goals.
He added: “I love my job and despite my dad living mile away, we speak every day.
“It’s great having someone who knows exactly what you’re going through.
“When we are prepping for stepping on stage we have to ensure diets consist of mainly only protein and vegetables.
“There’s no room for cheat meals and that’s why bodybuilding needs such dedication as it takes weeks to get into the best possible shape for stepping on stage.
“Me and my dad both had the same coach for the national bodybuilding championships but we trained at different times as we are competing with one another.
“It’s an amazing experience to have my dad on stage with me and we both feel incredibly lucky to do it together.”
Denis, who is a truck driver, is now in the best shape of his life and can’t thank Jesse enough for his help.
He added: “Stepping on stage with Jesse is amazing, we both train in the gym together when we can.
“I’m so thankful for all of his advice and we’re always so happy for one another when we each receive a prize.
“I couldn’t have done it without him.”
