Woman who was forced to buy two aeroplane seats sheds a whopping 13 stone for dream holiday
An obese woman forced to buy two plane seats every time she went on holiday now has her dream bikini body after shedding 13 stone.
Amber Rose, 24, from Harpenden, Hertfordshire, was left mortified when she could no longer squeeze into a standard aeroplane seat, tipping the scales at 25 stone – forcing her to pay double the standard fare.
One stranger even presumed she was pregnant – this was the final straw and Amber ditched the takeaways and fatty foods once and for all.
Now the super slimmer has lost half her body weight and has forked out £8k for a tummy tuck to remove her excess skin.
With her new slender size 10 figure, Amber, who’s 5ft 11, now weighs 12 stone and says she can’t wait to flaunt off her new figure on the beach this year.
Amber, a personal assistant, said: “I had to buy two plane seats every time I went on holiday, it was costing me a fortune.
“I also needed a seatbelt extender to fit over my bulging stomach, I was so uncomfortable but I couldn’t envision how I’d ever be any different.
“It was mortifying going away and instead of looking forward to holidays I would always dread them as getting on a plane was always humiliating.
“I felt like everyone would stare at me, and even when I got to these beautiful destinations I’d have to cover up my body because I was too ashamed.
“I was actually in denial about how big I was, I would snack on sharing packs of Maltesers all day and have at least three takeaways a week.
“Then one day a friend uploaded a photo of me at a buffet table, I was horrified, I couldn’t believe it was me in the picture. I knew I was big but this woman looked huge.
“After that I lost a stone quite quickly but was humiliated again when a stranger came up to me on a night out and asked how many months pregnant I was.
“Ever since then I haven’t looked back, I switched to low calorie healthy meals and began to do light exercise.
“Now I’m a gym junkie and absolutely love working out, I feel more confident than ever and can’t wait to get my bikini out this summer.”
After losing a whopping 13 stone Amber was left carrying half a stone of excess skin around her stomach.
Luckily the stunning brunette had been putting money aside at every opportunity and finally in November she paid for a £8,000 tummy tuck to complete her transformation.
Amber said: “I felt so proud of myself after losing so much weight through hard work and making the right decisions but my weight loss had left me with so much excess skin.
“Instead of feeling lighter after the gym I felt heavier as I was carrying 7lbs of skin around my stomach.
“I knew at some point I might need to do something as no matter how many times you go to the gym you’re never going to tone that much skin.
“So I began to save money every month for when the day came and it was such a relief when it was gone. I feel like a new woman and I have more confidence than ever before.
“I no longer feel like I stand out of the crowd for all the wrong reasons.”
Amber had always struggled with her weight and by the age of 15 she was a dress size 18.
Despite exercising regularly throughout school and being a part of the netball team she became a secret eater and would gorge on carbs and fatty foods.
Amber said: “After going to an all-girls school I never had to think about looking good for boys and I had some amazing friends so no-one ever mentioned my weight.
“I did regular exercise in school but my diet was so bad that playing sports didn’t keep the weight off.
“I was eating huge portions and it just became part of my daily routine.
“My parents were worried and would cook healthy dinners, but I would just snack and eat bad foods when they weren’t looking.”
After joining Weight Watchers three years ago, Amber has regularly gone to weekly weigh-ins and has now surpassed her target weight.
Amber said: “I’m sharing my story to let other know that if I can do it anyone can.
“It’s not an easy journey, when you’ve had an unhealthy diet for so long it becomes the norm and it’s hard to get out of such bad habits.
“When I weighed 25 stone I never thought I could lose 13 stone, but I’m so proud of myself now.
“I can’t wait to get on a plane again this summer and I’ll feel no shame when stepping out in my bikini.
“I’m happier than I’ve ever been.”
